Why Are Short Weeks So Very Long?? [Jan. 4th, 2008|10:40 am]
[Current Location |Work]
[Current Mood | happy]
[Current Music |Goldfrapp "A&E"]

Back at work after a very nice (and much needed) Winter Break. My first day back was this past Wednesday, and it was VERY hard getting back "into the swing" of things. Al is completely moved in as of now, and we're settling in nicely together. He shops like an old suburban lady, and we went yesterday to the Hilltop Butcher Shop in Weymouth to stock the house up with meat. I have NEVER in all my days seen so much meat in a person's freezer - hehehehehehe... Anyway, all is going very well on that front, his room is kind of small, and with all his bedroom furniture, it is very "cozy". My bedroom has basically become a glorified walk-in closet, and we generally just sleep in his bed so far. I must confess, I actually called in yesterday with a "nasty cold". Al had the day off, it was like 4 degrees yesterday morning, and I just couldn't see myself getting out of bed, and walking 20 minutes to the bus in that weather. So, I called in, and we scoped out potential living room and lounge furniture all day instead. Oh well...

Just need to make it to lunchtime today and I can have my customary Friday payday lunch/beers at Cambridge Common...I can make it!!! I know I can!! Driving up to New Hampshire tonight to get cheap cartons of cigarettes, possible seeing Sweeney Todd as well. We'll see...

Well, look what the cat dragged in! [Dec. 19th, 2007|11:02 am]

[Current Mood | happy]
[Current Music |"I'd Like You For Christmas" - Julie London]

Well, it's been QUITE some time since I've last posted in these hallowed halls...just about SEVEN months to be exact!! Well, in that time, let me just say that A LOT has happened...

Most of this past spring and summer was spent dealing with my colossal breakup with Adam. It was a rough fucking road, but I am very happy to report that I've come out the other side (as of a month or 2 ago) and am officially "over it". I would say 5 months' recovery for a 6 1/2 year relationship is not all that bad of a ratio. Of course, the recovery period involved consistent heavy drinking, lack of attention to my home/cats, and to an extent my health (both mental and physical). I am happy to report that, these issues too, are all cleared up.

I have been doing palm and tarot card readings at Flann O'Brien's on Monday nights for the past few months. "Cosmic Monday" we call it. I don't get paid, but I don't pay for anything the whole night I'm there, and I do have a tip jar. Some nights are better than others...around Halloween it was obviously very popular, and I was making good dough. By now, it's always a solid crowd and somewhat of a following has developed. So, that's been good...

In news on the homefront, I had some Northeastern senior renting out the extra bedroom in my apartment since September 1st. He moved out just last week (YAY!), so I was on the hunt for someone new back in November. I only got one reply to my ad, this guy who operates tugboats and barges in New York and Boston Harbor. His email seemed weird, and when I spoke with him on the phone, he sounded like a total dumb MASShole...reluctantly, I agreed to at least meet for a drink...he was, afterall, the ONLY reply I had, and December 1st had arrived. From here, the tale becomes strange with breakneck speed... The second the guy walked into the bar, I was SO relieved! VERY cute, blue eyes, just great (in my opinion). We had a drink, I showed him the apartment, he wrote me a check on the spot. He's not technically slated to move in until January 1st, but we kind of went on a date a couple of weeks ago. He's a TOTAL drinker, smokes, likes good food/restaurants, etc. We had an absolute blast and kissed goodnight at the end of the evening. Just saw him again last night - he is most likely moving in sooner vs. later. We had some drinks at a few bars, bought some wine and groceries, went back to the place, and I cooked a kickass pasta with a sausage cream sauce (please refrain from inserting snickers or innuendo!). We had a blast, and he ended up staying over and sleeping in my bed...'twas VERY nice! No sex, just sleeping and really nice intimate contact...as corny as that sounds...

So, everything seems to be going swimmingly since last I reported. Potential amazing new relationship, and at the very least someone I can certainly deal with to share my place. Still haven't done ANY Christmas shopping...don't get paid until Friday, so as usual, I'll be hitting the stores on the 23rd - hehehehehe...

Hope all is well with all concerned - have a great holiday y'all!!

Some Days Are Easier than Others [May. 7th, 2007|01:04 pm]
Having sort of a difficult time with the situation between Adam and me today. This is, by no means, some huge angry break-up where someone was caught cheating, or there is any bitterness or malice. He simply decided that he wanted to work with his father on a new business venture, and this necessitates him living down in New Jersey (ugh...).

We have been together for nearly 6 1/2 years, and this separation is, in many ways, a very good thing for both of us. Neither of us have really been pushing ourselves to advance as individuals and follow any of the personal goals that we may have had for ourselves before we got together. The last couple of years have seen more constant fighting between us, too much booze and drugs, and not the happiest times of our relationship.

But, still - it's just so difficult to carry on and go about your business when you're used to having someone there the whole time, and then they're just gone. And to make matters worse, he's not even really moved out yet. He spends most of his time down in New York working with his father, and then comes back up here every other weekend, or so. Like the title of the entry says, some days are easier than others...Today is not one of the easy ones...

Happy Administrative Professionals Day!!! [Apr. 26th, 2006|12:48 pm]
Hey All,

Happy Administrative Professionals Day to one and all - to those among us who are pre-P.C. - this is merely Secretarys Day in disguise... My dear friend Emma works at this huge upscale florist here in Boston, and when I came back in from my cigarette break, there was an ENORMOUS arrangement of Tiger Orchids on my desk. I thought this might be from my boss (since, though she's a raving bitch and psychopath, she's generally quite good at marking celebratory events...) - when I opened the card, I read the following:

"Since I'm sure your boss forgot about you, Happy Secretary's Day!!
Love, Emma"

TOO MUCH!!!! The arrangement stands taller than me when I'm sitting down, and I've placed it at a wonderfully strategic angle where my boss is sure to see it whenever she passes by - hehehehehehehe...

In other startling news today, I awoke quite late due to being too drunk last night and not setting my alarm - I got dressed called a taxi and ran downstairs. As I'm waiting for said taxi, I notice a letter scotch taped to the front door of our house, addressed to my b/f (Adam) with our old address from a year ago. It's a summons from Boston Court to appear today, and informing him that a bench warrant has been issued for his arrest for failing to appear in court previously (if they had sent prior notices to our current address, I'm sure he would have appeard.) At any rate, the letter continues, saying that he may now be arrested at home or at his place of employment at any given time...the fun never ends...he's in court (literally) as I type this...

And all this on a New Moon... I've had too much coffee and breakfast fare today, and I'm cultivating a devestating headache...

The week's about 1/2 over...

Well, it's been some time since I've updated, I do realize (not that anyone actually reads my entries the way I obsessivley read all of those on my friends page [or you do and don't leave a comment, you voyeuristic bastards!]) - nonetheless, I'm saying hello now. It is currently 3:20am (EST) on Friday night/Saturday morning, and I have gotten fucked up good and soundly to celebrate my first week of actually going to work all day for 5 straight days in some time. Beyond the miracle of not being fired for my truancy (or even reprimanded!!) - I have finally emerged from my little (read: HUGE) slump, and decided to get back into life (without "Depend", thank you very much...) and work at my job once again (read: SHOW UP AT ALL). It's ridiculously late, I'm drunk, coked up, and horny - so between porn mpeg's I bid one and all a hearty "hey!" - more to come as sanity and ambition slowly return...

Man Down!! [Feb. 14th, 2006|02:08 pm]
[Current Mood | high]

Happy Valentines Day, one and all... As I may have mentioned to many of you already, today is me and Adam's FIVE YEAR anniversary - amazing that it's been this long. That fact simply astounds me... So, to celebrate this lovely day, I just so happened to smash my toe to smithereens on Sunday. Yes, that's right... Had to undergo emergency minor foot surgery yesterday - I can't wear a shoe on that foot, and I can't really walk now either. I am SO doped up on Oxycodon's I'm not sure where the fuck I even am - heheheheheheh... So, that's my state of affairs - in pain from foot surgery and doped up on painkillers beyond belief... Thankfully, I had already taken yesterday and today off, but I didn't intend on spending them like this...

Hope everyone has a wonderful day - the screen is beginning to go triple on me now - hehehehehehehe...

Yes, that's right - it's Super Bowl weekend, and that can mean only one thing... Kenyon Woodworking's Annual Belt Sander Races!! HAZZAH!!! As is the custom, the men folk gather in Jamaica Plain each February and race belt sanders up and down a wooden track....for EIGHT HOURS!! There's free beer, but still... I think I'd need free gin and Sodium Pentathol to seriously entertain the notion of spending my day off there. Adam's been there for a while now with the usual suspects of brother + girl and sister + boy driven up from New York for this auspicious occasion. I, myself personally, have grand designs of an afternoon of vodka at Flann O'Brien's - my friend Emma and I have vague designs of meeting the brood there somewhere in the neighborhood of 9:00pm...no promises...only if I'm trashed enough, and there's promise of cocaine when I get home ;-)

Just Call Me Angel of the... [Feb. 2nd, 2006|01:38 pm]
Israfel
So you need Healing (18%), Knowledge (40%), Inspiration (60%), and Strength (43%)?
Archangel Israfel is the Angel of beauty, song, counsel, sympathy, and resurrection. He is a compassionate Angel, always inclined to offer comfort and guidance to those who are feeling lost and abandoned, and bring joy and laughter back to those who are without hope. He wants us to know that we are never alone and inspires us to love ourselves and to be confident and have faith.

Israfel is the Patron Angel of entertainers who brings mankind the gift of song, and with it the joy that will inevitably follow. He is a special Angel to musicians and those concerned with beauty, be it beauty in art or the beauty of life. His most famous instrument is the trumpet, but he is also mentioned playing the lute. Those two represent all string, pluck and wind instruments.

If you are the kind of trumpeter that’ll “wake the dead” in the middle of the night, you may have more in common with Israfel than you though. For he is also the Angel of resurrection, and what does he use to awaken the dead from their slumber at the end of the world? That’s right. A trumpet. His role at the final judgement makes him the Angel of life and new beginnings, representing the kind of hope that fills us when the sun rises over the horizon to drive away the darkness of the night.

A Bit of Trivia:

Israfel is a very compassionate Angel indeed. He “looks three times each day and three times each night into the depths of Hell, and is so stricken with horror and grief at the plight of the damned souls that he weep so that his tears would flood the earth, if God did not prevent them from flowing.” He is also said to be very beautiful and the master of music. Edgar Allan Poe once wrote in his poem Israfel: “In heaven a spirit doth dwell / Whose heart-strings are a lute; / None sing so wildly well / As the angel Israfel.”

[Current Music |Kirk Degiorgio presents As_One "Cocoon"]

So, how about this weather, eh??? Seriously though, it is a bit eerie for it to be like 60 degrees at the end of January. We may very well get fucked in February and be buried in FEET of snow (hopefully...). I will admit, however, it was pretty nice walking around yesteday in the warm breeze wearing only a light sweater (well, I had pants on, too, of course...).

Pretty much having a nice chill morning/early afternoon. Hung out at the bars yesterday, met up with Adam and Colleen (eventually) - martinis, back to the house for some lines and "Most Haunted", then munched some shrooms...it was a really nice evening - totally civilized, in bed by 2:00-2:30, even! Woke up around 10:00 this morning, cleaned up a bit, made some coffee, and just been fucking around on the computer all morning. I've been half-heartedly contemplating an omelette and vodka down at Flann's...we'll see... My mom got me a gift cert. for a Live 365 preferred membership thing, too - been exploring different stations and amassing an arsenal of presets...

Enjoy the day one and all!

[Current Music |"Stormtrooper in Drag" - Saint Etienne]

Well, I've been home sick with the flu ALL WEEK...yes, that's right friends... Started feeling kind of crappy last weekend, and things have simply unraveled from there. Spoke with my boss today, and she suggests that I just call the whole week off and start fresh on Monday. Surprisingly enough, she wasn't being bitchy about it AT ALL! So, that's that... Have a show tonight - singing a song in my friend John's collective called "ENERGY". I'm doing vocals on "Some Velvet Morning" - should be a blast! Haven't even had a chance to meet/sing with the girl doing the female vocals on this duet, so that should be interesting...I think it'll be GREAT, personally... So, just ripping some more of my vast music collection onto the new computer (this is an immense project, to be sure...) - need to shower, contemplate shaving, pop out for some lunch, and head over to John's later this afternoon... Wish me luck, all...

Stranger than Fiction....TRUTH!!! [Jan. 3rd, 2006|04:14 pm]
Mary Sue
Your score was 81 in Unbelievability!
You are your author's Mary Sue, and if a fiction writer wrote about a character like you, they would be doing something very wrong.

You're unreal. There's something about you which words cannot describe- well, OK, they can, but not in a way that you seem at all plausible. You are completely unique, special, and, most of all, improbable. The chances of you being the way you are are about the same as the chances of your computer screen exploding right now. It could happen, but it would come as a big surprise.

A novel with you as a character wouldn't even make it past the publishers. It would be rejected immediately because nobody would ever believe you could exist. You and your life are the stuff that daytime talk shows are made of. If you ever want to publish the story of your own life, make sure it's an autobiography, because you're too damn weird for fiction.

"And the day approacheth..." [Dec. 19th, 2005|01:02 pm]
[Current Mood | good]

Did the Harvard Divinity School IT Department Holiday Party on Friday night - turned out really well, actually... My Secret Santa ended up being my office mate, and she got me these REALLY cool martini glasses from Crate & Barrel that detach from the base - you put the martini glass part in the glass base filled with ice - it's VERY neat - if I could figure out (or was more patient to figure out) how to insert a link to the C & B website in here, I'd show you all... Maybe someone else could help with this?? At any rate, drank martinis on Harvard's bill - a good time was had by all... Saturday, Adam left for Long Island - he won't be back until MONDAY, DECEMBER 26TH!!! YIKES!!!!! At least the sex was good Friday night/Saturday morning - HA! I've settled down and come to terms with the holiday arrangement this year - we're going to have our own private X-Mas (think "My Own Private Idaho") on the following Friday, 12/30/05. It is still a shame, as not only are we missing X-Mas together, I'm missing his birthday (which is tomorrow) too! Anyway... Went out with Colleen Sat. night, drank, ran into Emma, back to her place, blizzard in her living room until 4:00am, or so... Had a relaxing day yesterday sitting in front of the TV, watching horror flicks, and EATING (I'm still full even NOW!). No real big plans for the week thus far - my boss is out all week, so it's mellow here at the office, and I have Friday off... Still hosting a X-Mas Eve Soiree at my place, so cleaning is CLEARLY in order at some point. Also, need to find some time to do a bit of baking (yes, baking, and BAKING! - which remind me, need to see my weed guy before the holidays as well!) - been scouring the Food TV site for festive cookie recipes. We'll see... "Medium" is not on tonight, and that makes me angry - what the fuck else am I supposed to watch at 10:00pm while I'm being a "widow" at home, HUH?! Still haven't done ONE OUNCE of shopping yet - don't even get paid until Friday - the Prudential Center Mall ought to be "interesting" on the 23rd & 24th...I can hardly wait...

Baby, it's cold outside... [Dec. 13th, 2005|01:04 pm]
[Current Mood | blah]

Hey All,

Just thought I'd pop in with a "cheerful" seasonal update (HA!)... Not too much of tremendous import to report. X-Mas is coming ever more near, and for whatever reason, I'm really just not feeling it this year. Maybe I'll get some eggnog and Goldschlager (The ingredients for the ever popular yuletide cocktail Schlagnog) put on some loungey X-Mas tunes and bust out ye olde 1960's aluminum tree tonight. We're pretty damned broke this year, which I suppose, is one reason I'm note "feeling" it so much. But, it's not supposed to be about spending money, it's supposed to be about seeing the people you love, having fun, and getting together, so...fuck it...

In other news, it seems nearly impossible to escape all this press surrounding that new film "Brokeback Mountain". I probably shouldn't see it any time soon - I'll probably end up bawling my eyes out for days...I'm just in the mood...

Adrien ;-)
